- Amazon Developer Documentation has confirmed that future Fire TVs will run an Android 14-based OS and support the rumors of a full switch to Vega Os.
- Amazon has avoided referring to the upcoming version as four OS, but the reason for this is not yet ready.
- Amazon provides already selected developers with virtual Android 14-based Fire TV devices for testing.
Amazon has confirmed that a new fire -TV operating system based on Android 14 Is developing, and questions that the company can move from Android completely.
As discovered by Aftvnews,, The confirmation comes from New developer documentation On the Amazon App Store. It explicitly refers to the upcoming OS, but interestingly, Amazon does not mention it as four OS. Instead, the name Android 14-based Fire TV is used, even when listed with previous OS versions.
Four TVs are currently running four OS 8, which is based on Android 11. The confirmation of an Android 14-based OS suggests that at least some future four TV models will continue to use Android, even though Amazon experiments with their own Vega Os on other devices such as Echo Show 5 and Echo Spot.
The documentation also reveals that this will be the first Fire TV operating system for years to run in 64-bit mode exclusively, and requires adjustments of app compatibility. Amazon has also begun to offer selected developers External access to virtual Android 14-based fire TV devices for the release in advance of the release.
We have reached Amazon to comment on the cause of the apparent Brann Os label.
