The smart The arena develops rapidly, but Oura still sets the pace. The current generation ring is polished, functional packed and impressively reliable. Still, no unit line is immune to the itching for anything more. With new rivals entering the stage and portable progress quickly, now feels like the right time to think about what is next time. Oura Ring 5 is probably a way out, but I already dream of what the next model may contain.
A refined design

Kaitlyn Cimino / Android Authority
The strength of the Oura ring has always been its compact, not intrusive form factor. That said, the design is not all I want it to be in terms of comfort and aesthetics. While the current generation is light and generally discreet, it feels noticeably thick, especially for users with smaller hands or those who, like me, use multiple rings. It is also uncomfortable during strength training involving weights or bars. Despite processing between gene 3 and gene 4, including the removal of bulbess sensors, the latest model remains bulkers than competitors such as Galaxy Ring, which I think relaxed, more scratch -resistant and generally more comfortable. I would like to see our Ring 5 launch with a slightly slimmer profile (without sacrificing battery life or sensor accuracy). Additional finish (with full coating, thanks) and extended size options will also expand the appeal without compromising on the brand’s core design language.
Dinger -based haptics
I am also eager to see haptic feedback take the way to Oura Ring 5. The first time I heard about Haptics on a smart ring was when I tested the circular ring slim, and honestly, I was a little scary out of the idea. But after using the device, I grew to love the mild vibrations for alarms and timer alerts. Adding the Haptics to the our ring would bring the same eye -catching, practical functionality and make the ring an even more useful tool. Considering how powerful ours are sleep tracking is that it only makes sense that the device also acts as an alarm.
A more powerful charging device

Kaitlyn Cimino / Android Authority
The current Oura ring line comes with a wired charging spuck that requires a power outlet, which limits portability and convenience. While the system gets the job done, it will be short compared to the compact charging cases offered by competitors. These cases include built -in batteries, so users fill their devices on the go without having to connect. This means less cable control and more flexibility. A charging case is one of my biggest requests for Oura Ring 5. It would not only improve ease of use; It will also help ours to hold the edge, instead of feeling that it is behind the ball.
Digital Payment Support
I really hope Oura Ring 5 brings NFC support for contactless payments to users’ fingers. First, it’s no longer a nice to have, it’s quite standard. More specifically, it will make the ring a much more powerful standalone device and give me another reason to leave my smart watch at home. I know that a smart ring will never pack all the features of a wrist -based, screen -witing portable, but adding NFC feels like a very achievable upgrade that will make a big difference.
Even longer battery life

Kaitlyn Cimino / Android Authority
I know our ring 4 already makes most smart watches ashamed, but more is always more when it comes to battery life. In the next generation, I hope to see even better efficiency, whether it is through smarter power control or a slightly larger battery, without adding bulk. Longer time between costs means more freedom to use the ring continuously, especially during travel or busy weeks, and it is exactly the type of upgrade that holds portable user -friendly.

Will it be an our ring 5?

Kaitlyn Cimino / Android Authority
As of now, Oura has not officially confirmed the existence or release time line to an Oura -ring 5. Since we are not even a year into the current generation, it is not so surprising. The company typically holds future product plans during packaging until it is ready to announce an announcement. That being said, given the success and popularity of the current generation, it seems likely that a next generation model is in the works.
- Oura Ring 2 – announced in November 2017
- Oura Ring 3 – October 3, 2021
- Oura Ring 4 – October 15, 2024
The last Oura ring launched almost exactly three years after its predecessor, each arriving in October. My best guess is that we have a similar long wait for the next model. Oura does not release new hardware annually like many SmartWatch brands. The waiting time may seem taxable, but it also means that we are much more likely to see significant upgrades from generation to generation.
Should you wait for the our ring 5?

Kaitlyn Cimino / Android Authority
Waiting for the next Oura ring may sound fine in theory, but in practice it means missing out on months, or even years, of useful health insights. Oura Ring 5 is not around the corner, and given Oura’s release cadence, it probably won’t be in a good while. The current model, Oura Ring 4, is already nailing the basics: holistic wellness tracking, accurate sleep surveillance and a low-profile design that will fit into your life without fuss. There is a fantastic device available now. If you want to optimize your health, it doesn’t make sense to set it off for a future version.
That said, Oura Ring 4 is not the only smart ring out there. The galaxy ring ($ 399.99 at Amazon) Is a solid choice for everyone in the Samsung ecosystem. It is light and comfortable and has unique integration with Samsung phones and Galaxy watches. Ringconn Gen 2 ($ 299 on the manufacturer’s website) and gene 2 air (199 dollars at Amazon) are every good budget -friendly options.
