This Vivo X Fold 5 feature can be the best way to multitask on a foldable

Vivo X Fold 5 Atomic Workbench Multitasking function (2)

Tl; Dream

  • Vivo’s upcoming X Fold 5 has a new multitasking system called “Atomic Workbench” which is able to run up to five active apps at the same time.
  • “Atomic Workbench” enables a dominant app view while keeping others minimized, but lives, and improves OnePlus’ open canvas approach with a better design to engage more apps.
  • Vivo X Fold 5 will be launched June 25 in China.

OnePlus was groundbreaking Open canvas Function with OnePlus Open Social, so users can open three apps at the same time on their folding inner view. This approach stood out as one of the best ways to multitask on Android -Comparable and Tablet, as it opened up two apps side by side, with the third app hidden away, but ready to be the focus at any time. Now Vivo’s upcoming X Fold 5 is threatening to use OnePlus’ multitasking -crown with its “Atomic Workbench” feature.

Vivo’s product manager He boxiao Has shared a demo of X Fold 5S Multitasking system, called “Atomic Workbench”, which is translated into “Atomic Workbench.”

The demo video shows that the honor of the Kings game occupies most of the screen property, but not all. There is empty space on the pages, but more in particular we see four apps hanging at the top ~ 30% of the screen. Tapping up some of these apps brings them into focus in a similar layout. However, apps such as Deepseek and WPS spreadsheet multitasking route on the left (probably because they open in portrait orientation). We also discover a drop -off in the bottom right, albeit that the demo does not show the use.

This multitasking solution is genius because it lets one app dominate the display, while giving you a good look at what the other apps have. The cherry at the top is that all five apps continue to run actively, even when out of focus. For all practical purposes, the apps still consider very much in focus. We can see the honor of Kings continues to continue with the gameplay, and Deepseek continues to respond to the query even when the user has switched away.

Essentially, Vivo has improved OnePlus’ open canvas experience by focusing more on an app while keeping the rest open in smaller, replaced windows. The layout is also an improvement from Android’s conventional experience with several windows, recently using 90:10 Multitasking Split After being inspired by open canvas on Candybar phones. However, I can’t help but notice the similarities to the iPado Stage Manager, focusing on app groups, while Vivos Multitasking implementation seems to focus on individual apps.

It remains to be seen how easy it is to activate this multitasking setup, if it can be run with fewer than five apps and if users can change the size of or place the layout.
