  • Pixel 9a shows a strange “flickering” behavior under the front of front facs.
  • The camera appears to be unable to decide on exposure settings, and jumps between different brightness levels.
  • Despite the preview effect for scrubbing, actual images taken with the phone seem normal.

Google’s latest Pixel phone is here, and new users are getting to know Pixel 9a. Company’s latest budget-set Pixel entry fine-tuning the famous design language with a recent Flattened cameraand based on the polls we have seen, You dig the new look. Today, we tilt things around not to look at the back camera package, but check out what happens to the phone’s front facs, as Pixel 9a owners begin to report some curious behavior.

Over the past few days we have discovered reports from Reddit users who Therealfrantik and Nebularner_ Describes a strange “flickering” effect from the Pixel 9as Selfie comb. We have managed to confirm the phenomenon of our own Pixela 9a hand set.

It manifests itself as a back and forth change that mainly affects the lower light areas in the stage, with black that suddenly jumps to a lighter shade. It gives the impression that the camera seems confused about the exposure it is trying to go for, and calls brightness just to change your mind immediately. In the screens you see above, the expected image on the left is, but in preview Pixel 9a’s camera app continues to flicker to the lighter image to the right.

The good news is that it is a simple solution: just uninstall recent updates. This behavior appears to have been introduced in a software update after launch, and by turning the clock back you can enjoy a flicker-free Selfie comb.

We have also observed that despite this unwanted flickering in the app’s viewfinder, when you go to actually take a picture of the image, the Pixel 9a catcher looks to be exposed correctly, with the kind of dark blacks we expect. It doesn’t make the experience while putting up a shot any less annoying, but at least this is a mistake that seems to be largely without consequence. We have also tested with the recording of front -facing video, and do not see the flickering there, either. Hopefully we will see Google Fix this with an update soon, anyway.
