The Toulouse director François Grandjacques loves to surpass the limits of animation thanks to artificial intelligence. Between a short film, inspired by Georges Méliès, and a project that traces 390 years of history of a charity, he explains to us how AI revolutionizes Audiovisual creation and the way to tell the past.
François Grandjacques, Touloulouse director and producer at the head of the production company TaistoidanceIs passionate about the possibilities of artificial intelligence.
“The AI opens incredible doors! Before a historical film, sets, sets, costumes … we can write everything and create directly today. It is an artistic revolution!”
Preductions, he signed one of the very first institutional films that were designed thanks to AI last September.

And he does not intend to stop there. On his current projects: working with the Nantes Association Hope and Smile, which supports in hospital lessons.
Reconstituted historical scenes
“We want to make a film on the 390th anniversary of the history of the association. There were no photos or videos three centuries. Thanks to the software of the AI, the combination of archives, paintings and descriptions of the time, we will reconstruct historical scenes such as Louis Pasteur in his laboratory,” explains Françoisis.
The project will take place in the form of a cartoon. “Before the AI, this type of film would have been reduced to a simple slide show by engraving with a voice -over,” he said with fun.
A futuristic homage to Méliès
Another innovative project intended for festivals: a short film inspired by the film “Le Voyage en La Moon” by Georges Méliès.
“The story follows two astronauts that explore an unknown part of the moon … and discovered that Méliès was right: the moon has a face! It is a screenplay pirouette that plays with the imagination of the original film.
The project is still at the beginning. “I have to stand with AI technical challenges, which is pretty fun: Georges Méliès was also confronted with restrictions by experimenting with the camera, special effects and overlays. Instead of fighting these limits, why not integrating into the film?
A “revolution” on March
We haven’t seen anything for François yet. “This is only the beginning and the tools continue at a crazy speed. In a few years, audiovisual production will be completely changed.”
Thanks to AI, the traditional limits of the cinema are deleted. “We can finally be a filmmaker or filmmaker. Before the film that is asked for years of waiting and the colossal means. Today we write a story and we see how it is brought to life almost immediately. It is an incredible opportunity for the creators.”
