- YouTube users on stationary machines, smart TVs and iOS report a downgrade of important quality while streaming.
- Videos automatically start playing in 144p or 360p resolution despite a strong internet connection.
- Fortunately, YouTube has acknowledged the problem and does something about it.
YouTube doesn’t look good. No, the platform is not in crisis, but it faces an annoying question that causes very poor quality streams even on fast internet connections.
Users has been complain for several days on platforms that RedditAnd we have noticed it on our smart TVs as well. Videos are standard with low resolutions such as 144p or 360p, even when the internet speed is more than sufficient. Trying to manually switch to 1080p or a higher resolution only results in constant buffering, which is frustrating when you know your connection is not the problem.
The problem seems to hit iOS users, desktop viewers and Smart -TV users hardest. The app seems to work well on Android phones And tablets.
“Every time I open videos or YouTube shorts, it opens with very, very poor quality, like 144p, and I think it’s worst because I can see the pixels. I know I can change it to whatever I want, but this is wired and never happened before for me,” wrote an ios YouTube user on Reddit.
“Even when I manually choose 720p, which my connection is completely capable of and has been, it refuses to go over 144p. It is unmatched,” wrote another user.

Fortunately, YouTube has acknowledged the problem and is working on a solution. The platform addressed the problem in a support page Update:
