To use Object Eraser, choose an image where the subject’s face is partly hidden – it can be a selfie or a normal image, and you can even download a randomly from the web. Tap the AI ​​icon, draw around the object you want to remove, click on the eraser icon and hits Gener. Within seconds, the object with AI’s best guess is replaced on what the hidden part of the face looks like.

Sometimes it works incredibly well. In the test shots below, a whole half of my face was hidden, but the software did a good job that approached what the missing half would look like. It’s not quite perfect – there’s something about the recreated eye – but it’s good enough to convince someone who’s not very familiar with how I look.

You don’t actually need a new Galaxy S25 phone to use Galaxy Ai Object Eraser, but it looks like the feature works best on Samsung’s new flagship.

To see the difference, I used my wife’s galaxy S23 Plus (running a Ui 6.1) and a galaxy S25 Ultra (A Ui 7) To edit the same pictures. Although S23 Plus in some cases does as well as the S25 Ultra, I found that the new flagship produces more consistent results. Another case I noticed is the lower quality of the changed images. This may not be a problem in most cases, but repeated use of AI objects on the same shot can introduce blur and color tape.

Even with its deficiencies, it is difficult not to be impressed with this technology. What used to take a skilled editor hours of work can now be achieved in seconds, free, on a consumer unit. It is one of the most useful and universally appealing AI features we have seen so far. When it works well, it cannot be separated from magic. And when it fails, you have at least not wasted hours on it.

People tend to photograph the ones they know and care about, so even small discrepancies will protrude. But I can see how Ai Object Eraser (and similar tools from Google, Apple and others) can be very useful when accuracy is less important than having an unobstructed picture of someone. Forums like subreddit R/Photoshoprquest are full of people looking for help restoring or changing invaluable family images. Ai Object Eraser is not a full substitute for a skilled photoshop artist yet, but it is not far away either.
