“Our technological team is currently investigating premium users who hear ads,” noticed a representative of the company in the thread. The representative asked affected users to submit information such as the device model and the OS version, the app version (if they do not use the web player), the type of ad they received, and whether they have tried any specific troubleshooting steps. The company has also asked users to upload videos of the problem, if possible.
Either way, it’s not a great look if paying users see ads. But it certainly seems like a mistake instead of a conscious feature of Spotify’s side. It would not be the first time subscribers have reported ads, as we have seen scattered reports on this problem over the years. We have nevertheless asked the company about this problem and will update the article accordingly.
