Searches almost doesn’t matter in Youtube’s massive viewership, Google claims

Fighting against antitrust lawsuits is just a day in Google’s office. Indeed, the Tech giant was busy asking the ninth circle to turn an antitrust -judgment towards Play Store And invoicing services on Android platforms just last week. Sometimes, however, it is to pay attention to these cases, as we can sometimes get small nuggets with information that reveals facts about the business we did not know before. Such a detail was just divided last week in a case brought by a rival video platform.

As reported by Courthouse News ServiceGoogle was in the Federal Court last Thursday and fought against antitrust requirements from the Rumble Video Loat. Rumble lawyers claim that Google uses its monopoly to promote YouTube Videos of videos from similar sites. Rumb’s lawyer, Jack Stern, told the court:

When a YouTube video is located over other platforms on the search results, a rival cannot hope to compete on another Android system’s home screen.

In response to the argument, Google claimed that Rumble overestimated how much influence search has on the YouTube seepage. Attorney John Schmidtlein, who represented Google, then shared this interesting statistics:

Approximately less than 1% of views on YouTube comes from people clicking on [search] Links.

This may be the first time Google has revealed these statistics in public. A majority of users tend to detect and watch videos directly on YouTube, so it is not surprising that a smaller percentage of people are looking for videos by using Search. But what is surprising, if true, is that the percentage is so low.

The judge who leads the case has not yet made a ruling, but mentioned that he would try to get one out as soon as possible. In case the judge agrees with Rumble, a trial will be set for May.
