I tried the Galaxy S25’s drawing assistance and it beats Pixel Studio

Samsung is no stranger to AI-driven image generation. It launched more art -based tools over the past year than Apple and Google combined. And yet, the first two efforts felt pretty disappointing. Samsung’s portrait studio felt too limited, pulling only one face at a time from your photos and threw it at a dull, empty background. Sketch to the picture, on the other hand, felt a little more open, but was truncated by your ability to draw what you wanted to see.

Now Samsung has a new tool in the box with Galaxy Ai Art supplies: Drawing assistance. While the name makes it sound like the next development in sketch to the picture, there is much more to draw assist than that. I have been exploring it for a few days and it may be my new favorite AI-driven image generator. Here’s the reason.

Initially, I was not excited to dig in drawing assistance. As I suggested above, the name makes it sound like little more than the next step in sketch to the picture, and I’m not exactly a gifted galaxy artist – it So And I don’t really get together. However, I quickly realized that drawing assistance is more like a three-in-one tool that combines everything Samsung has already done when it comes to AI-generated art to one useful place.

What I mean by it is technically, to draw assist is the next development of sketch to the picture. There is also the next step for Samsung’s portrait studio, and most importantly, it introduces a decent image generator, which you get from Google Pixel studio Or Apple’s picture playground. It does a bit of everything, but each of the parts is more useful than the previous generation.

Of course, I think I have to start in the beginning – how I stumbled over drawing help in the first place. If you were to believe it was the first time I fired up Samsung’s Galaxy Ai -art tool accidentally while Licking the s pen. When you retrieve the S pen from the corner-mounted track, it automatically opens a menu with air command tool, including screen writing, AI Select, and of course drawing assist. I drained it, and expected it would require my finest art skills, and set to doodle – bad, I can add. I drew a aliens in a UFO, pressed generated and hoped for the best. As it turns out, Samsung’s best is significantly better this year.

Then I noticed that there was more with the drawing assistant interface than I first thought. Although the default on using my S pen, I quickly switched to more well -known territory: the optional text box to describe what I wanted to see instead of drawing it myself. I started trying to establish the drawing assistant’s content limits (they exist) and see if I could fragment them with carefully wording (I could).

Last, but certainly not least, I realized that you could add photos from your camera roll to draw assist to recognize them with AI. Initially, I figured this would be a somewhat limited application, and gave me an update to the portrait studio that so underestimated me in 2024. Fortunately, it’s only half true. You can Generate portrait -like images of people you know, but you can also upload photos of pets, objects and buildings to get Samsung’s wear. Surprisingly, the best results I have seen so far have been with pets, as drawing help seems most willing to preserve parts of the original background.

I’m not going to lie – I’ve pushed Samsung’s cartoon as hard as I can. Or, at least, I’ve used the text box and photo upload options with just about every good picture from my camera roll. Unfortunately, my art skills in elementary class have pressed Samsung’s updated sketch to the picture on the back of the queue. I still used it, but I can’t say it has been my favorite of the three tools. Anyway, here are some of the pictures I have made so far:

As you may imagine, two of these creations are the result of trying to push Samsung’s content constraints to their boundaries. I asked for an oil painting of a sponge chef and his pink starfish and got at least one sponge and one starfish. Then I switched to see if I could force Yoda into a taxi with the guide text, “a green aliens from Dagobah on the back of a taxi.” It’s not a perfect similarity, but I would say it’s pretty close to not being able to use his name or the phrase Star Wars.

Otherwise, the dog was on a sailboat my first crack of seeing what Samsung’s text box would spit out, and the multi -legged stranger is the best I could conjure up with S Pen and Galaxy Ai’s equality function that was turned down. Essentially, the higher the equality setting is on your sketch, the closer Samsung will stick to the original drawing – in my case, making it look worse. Because I dropped it as low as it would go, Galaxy S25 Ultra Took my doodel as inspiration before I smoothed the edges and improved the spots.

When I move on to Samsung’s new roof at the portrait studio, I must say that I am quite impressed. Last year I regretted that the portrait studio only held a few face details and then remix the background and clothes in shades of blue and orange, but that is no longer the case. It looks like Samsung retained both the friend’s original clothes and chain chain on the left, while just changing a bit of my other friend’s bike shirt on the right. Samsung’s lighting and background options are also much better in the updated 3D cartoon setting than in the original version.

And finally, Samsung’s Galaxy Ai finally acknowledges pets. Not only did it recognize Ladybird (the dog), but it held important parts of her birthday attire in both pictures I asked it to generate. I expected drawing help to keep her distinctive black spots, but it went on to keep her red collar and pink party hat in both pop art and 3D cartoon settings. Interestingly, the Galaxy S25 ultra kept even the brick of Baltimore’s promenade – something it never did for human subjects.

Overall, I have to say that I am quite impressed with Samsung’s cartoon. I didn’t think I would be, but it’s much better than the individual tools that Samsung launched throughout 2024. Perhaps best of all, it provides more flexibility than Google and Apple can match. Maybe you can push Google’s content filter a little longer or take a little more control over the scenarios you can put friends and family in as part of the photo playground, but I think Samsung beats the right balance between the two.

That said, it is still not a perfect implementation. I am still a little confused by Samsung’s refusal to preserve the background of Portrait Studio Creations, especially when it seems willing to do so when pets are involved. Even more confusing is that if you upload a picture and Samsung does not detect a human face – even if there are people in it – will draw assistant generate an evening picture instead. I have had this that happened with two separate pictures, with Samsung who nailed the lighting and time in the evening in both cases, but it was not to behave like my friends were in the picture.

Despite these weird, Samsung’s drawing help is nothing less than a massive leap forward. It is better than the original portrait studio and sketches to the image and feels like a complete tool. I will probably probably share most of my time between uploading photos and using the text box instead of drawing my own weird creations. Still, I no longer feel that I need to ignore Samsung’s photo -generating tools.
