  • Google has launched a new Android Canary Release Channel for developers to test experimental features.
  • A new setting of “Parent Controls” has appeared in pixel units running Canary Build.
  • The setting may be connected to Android 16’s upcoming “supervision” tool to manage screen time and children’s online content.

We have seen a new setting of “parent checks” in pixel units running Google’s new Android Canary Build. It appears under the digital wellness option in the setting menu, and we believe it can be linked to the “supervisory tools” we have previously seen in Android 16 beta 4 release.

Google’s new Android Canary Release Channel provides developers early access to Android features on Forward. In this introductory Kanari building, the new “Parental Controls” setting for future updates for children’s safety tools on Android suggests.

The description of the setting reads: “Digital basic rules and screen limits.” To tap it at the moment does not open anything in the Canary building. As we said, the feature appears to be equal to a “supervision” page We have previously found in Android 16 Beta 4.

In the former Beta, the “supervision” page included an exchange to activate device supervision and an alternative for filtration of net content. When the audit was turned on by entering a PIN code for the monitored account, filters block blockers of explicit sites at Chrome and explicit content in Google searches. These tools aim to hide inappropriate materials online, although they may not be able to block everything.

Android Canary Channel is aimed at developers, and Google warns that these buildings are not suitable for daily users. The first release is available for several Pixel models, including the Pixel 9 series, Pixel Fold and the Pixel tablet.
