When Samsung tests the trophy waters, this rival is a step ahead

Today’s leaks may have given us clues that Samsung’s first tri-folding folding edge is closer to escape, but it seems that one of the best competitors may already be another step ahead.

According to South Korean publication Clock (h/t Jukan choi At x) Huawei plans to launch its next generation trophy phone later this year. The device is expected to improve the durability and performance of the original Mate XT Ultimate Design, which was launched in China in September last year and went globally in February. The phone allegedly sold over 400,000 devices during the first two months that became the sale.

Meanwhile, Samsung’s trophy plans are finally in clearer views. Earlier today we shared Exclusive pictures from one Ui 8 Displays design for the first time, revealing two interior folding hinges in a G-shaped fold instead of the Mate XTS S-shaped fold. Clock Reporting that Samsung will start small-scale production of Tri-fold in September, with a release expected in the fourth quarter, but availability may be limited to South Korea and China, and it absolutely won’t be cheap.

Specifically, Samsung’s Tri-Fold-Ligen’s launch as the Galaxy G-Folden tip to have a 10-inch OLED screen, Snapdragon 8 elite chips and a camera setup similar to the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7, including a 200MP primary sensor. However, the slim design can mean a smaller battery than Huawei’s Mate XT, which houses a significant 5,600mah cell.

We reviewed Mate XT Earlier this year, and while its soaring price and lack of Google Services limited its practical, no one denied its engineering appeal. Now, with Huawei who is already working on a refined sequel before Samsung’s first tri-fold, even hits shelves, the battle for these ultra premium is just more intense.
