Luc Julia, a team of Siri, demystified artificial intelligence in his just published book: “The not a creative generative”. It shows a vision far from fantasies: AI is only a specialized, powerful but limited tool, without creativity or conscience, and its true strength lies in its ability to increase people so as not to replace them.
Your new book is entitled “The Non -Creative Generative Ki”, with the subtitle “artificial intelligence (almost) does not (almost) not”. Why this choice? What would you like to deconstruct?
I try to deconstruct the myth, to be afraid. It is due to the newspapers, the media in general. It is certain that it is more fun to say that the machine will kill us, replace us, do beautiful things instead of saying the truth. These are just math. We got into a imagination that can artificial intelligence. And we prefer to stay in this imagination, what I call Hollywood Ai, the AI of “Terminator”, which will kill us, or the AI of the film “You” that we fall in love. But it is science fiction. This AI does not exist because it does very standardized and specific things. On the other hand, the ball that I try to explain is that these tools are better than we do. I often hear: “I’m overcome soon”, “will be smarter than we”. But these tools are better. More intelligent in the field for which they were created. For example, the calculation machine is an artificial intelligence. It is better than we do to make additions and subtractions. This does not mean that we do not know how to carry out calculations, but that the machine becomes faster without making a mistake.
You say that generative AI is not creative. For what ?
Because generative AI only combines, recombine and extrapolate existing data. In contrast to the man who can imagine, she does nothing out of the frame. The generative AI can produce pictures, texts, music, but it has no intention, no sensitivity, no conscience. It only simulates human creativity without ever comparing it.
Can we trust AI? If not, why?
You cannot trust AI because the relevance level is low. There is also a lot of artificial intelligence here. The more she specializes, the more I will be able to trust her. This means that when she says, “I make additions and sub -excess”, I can trust her because what she can do is specific. But when Ai says: “I can do everything”, you have to be careful. Is that we are a little. You have to understand that Chatgpt is a generic AI. It is used to ask any kind of question. But this AI takes the Internet as a model. And we know that everything is not true on the Internet. With a slightly tendency question, AI can get the wrong answers. These artificial intelligence are there to do one thing: to please. That means you will answer exactly what we want to hear. Because the way we ask the question will lead the answer. If we ask a AI: “Show me that the earth is flat”, it will show that the earth is flat because there are platous spots. And since they asked that, they are happy. But is the earth flat? You have to discuss it.
You talk about increased intelligence. What does that mean?
The intelligence increases that these technological tools, including AI, increase our natural capacities. A generative AI can encourage our creativity by offering ourselves ideas or content that we would not have thought of alone. But people stay in the middle: it is up to us to judge pilots, to judge.

Exactly the key is complementarity. Now it is my creativity that is increased because these tools generate things that I could never have imagined. A few years ago, creative people worked like designers with a pencil and paper. After that they had Photoshop. And this application enables you to be more creative. And today, with a generative AI, you can be even more. I can get creative when I am in drawing zero, I suck on music, I’m zero in all. But I can create things with this AI. It will be my creation because I simply explained my emotions in natural language, the things I wanted to create. So I am who creates and it is the machine that creates what I want to create. And that’s the difference. AI is not there to replace people, but to increase them. But you have to keep your hand, remain critical and creative. Man must remain conductor.
