Prepare to switch to Prime Video, as Amazons Freeee -app goes away for good

After announcing plans for Turn down its free video steaming service Late last year, Amazon has now confirmed that the Freevee app will finally be closed in August. But there is some good news for those who like Freevees huge library of TV shows, movies and live TVs.

Amazon recently announced users via a notice that it will take the Freeve app offline in August 2025 (via Techcrunch). However, Freeve’s extensive library of free, ad -supported content does not disappear. The notice adds that Prime Video is the “new exclusive home” for Freeee content, and users can continue to see their “favorite Frevee originals, and our library of hit films, show and live TV on Prime Video for free, without subscription necessary.”

The notice even contains a link to Prime Video and instruct users to download the app and log in with their Amazon account to see Freevee Content, available in the “Watch Free” part of the app. Since Freevee is available in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and Austria, the library is likely to be available in Prime Video only in these regions. It is not immediately clear whether Amazon intends to bring freevee content to several places.
