Google is about to give all their Android apps a Material 3 expressions Makeover. Apps such as Gmail, Keep and Wallet have already received a design update with recent updates, and the company is preparing a similar upgrading for the Google Drive app. We have already given you a Early preview of any of the changes On the way to the app, and a demolition of the latest release has unveiled some more improvements.

In addition to Updated liquid action button (FAB) and Home screen, the latest Google Drive building (version 2.25.260.0.all.alldpi) contains a redesigned popup menu that appears when you press the three-point button next to files and folders. As shown in the following screens, the menu now has three prominent pill -shaped buttons at the top, followed by the remaining options in a list.
Google has removed “Manage access” from this menu, and you can now access it by pressing the part button. It has also given new names to some options and changed the icons for a few others. Along with this redesigned menu, Google has introduced a more prominent button for the upcoming Gemini-based PDF summary feature we discovered last week. The new button appears in the PDF viewer and should help introduce more users to this new opportunity.

The redesigned menu and summary button are not live for end users in the current release, but Google can roll them out shortly. We update this post when Google Drive’s Material 3 Expressive Refresh is widely available.
