  • A blog post announcing Openais $ 6.5B acquisition of Jony Ives hardware startup “IO” has been taken down because of a court order that originated from a trademark complaint from a company called IYO.
  • Openai clarified that despite the speculation, the partnership is still ongoing, and it is to explore alternatives regarding names.
  • IYO, which already sells an AI -driven “audio computer”, claims the “IO” name is violating their trademark.

All traces of Openis much hyped hardware effort with legendary Apple designer Jony Ive has suddenly disappeared due to a court order triggered by a trademark complaint. ONE Blog post As once put prominent on Openai’s website, was drawn without warning and briefly shows a 404 error (H/T Max Weinbach). Of course, this speculation triggered that the partnership between Sam Altman’s Openai and Ive had fallen apart. But the company has since clarified that this is not the case.

In a notice now posted on its website, Openai says the blog post announced the $ 6.5 billion agreement between IME’s start -up “IO” and Openai was taken down “due to a court order after a trademark complaint from IYO about our use of the name ‘iO.’ We do not agree with the complaint and consider our alternatives.

Open Ai Jony Ive Brandsvist iO

The now distant blog post from Altman and Ive stated: “The IO team, focused on developing products that inspires, strengths and enables, will now merge with Openai to work more intimate with research, engineering and product teams in San Francisco.”

So who is and?? There is a company that has already created an AI unit that is able to run natural language apps, think the now abandoned Human you have a pine. The company calls the unit an “audio computer”, but in the core there is basically an AI-driven earplug.

We must now wait and look at who wins the rights to the “IO” name, and if Openai and Ive will be forced to remark over the lawsuit.
