Update June 6, 2025 (10:35 ET): We still do not see this AI mode -the snarning road that actively appears in Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1 on some of our devices where we have not forced this early look manually, but we have now heard from at least a user who claims to already see it live.

Discord user Scuttlefield reports getting the AI mode button in front of what seems to be almost everyone else. At the moment we can’t say if it’s a mistake, they’re just very lucky, or if Google becomes positive ice cream with its approach to making the change available. If you happen to see it on any of your phones, you can give us a cry in the comments.
Original article June 5, 2025 (10:34 et): Google introduced Search’s AI mode Earlier this year to help users find answers to complex, multiple questions. So far, you can access it online or by going to the Google app on your phone and pressing the AI mode button. However, Google is working on a new shortcut to provide Pixel users faster access to the feature.

Google plans to add an AI mode -snar road to Pixel Launchers Search Widget, giving Pixel users access to the Right of the Home Screen. We first Detected references to this shortcut In the second Android 16 beta and got to look at the icon. Although it still does not live in the Android 16 QPR1 beta, we have now enabled it to manually give you an early look.
While we showed off in a mockup earlier this year, the shortcut AI mode appears to the left of the voice search and lens snar roads in Pixel Launcher’s search. The AI mode icon has Google’s signature colors, but adapts to the system colors if you activate the “Them icons” option. Tapping it opens the Google app’s AI mode interface, making it easier for Pixel users to start an AI mode search from the Home screen.
The AI mode shortcut can reach Pixel devices with Android 16. But since it is not live in the first Android 16 QPR1 Beta, Google can delay the rollout to a subsequent release. We will update this post as soon as the shortcut is widely available.
