- Ease Android Authority Rewdown has revealed Material 3 Expressive Design Adjustments coming to Google’s phone app.
- The visual adjustments currently apply to the incoming conversation and menus in the conversation.
- This comes after we discovered visual changes that come to several other Google apps as well.
Google is working on a visual overhaul of Android 16using it Material 3 expressions design. We have already seen a few Google apps with similar adjustments, and we have now revealed a larger overhaul of Google’s phone app.
Ease APK Demolition Helps predict features that may come to a service in the future based on work code. However, it is possible that such predicted functions may not come to a public release.
We cracked the phone by the Google App (version 177.0.763181107-Publicbeta-Pixel2024) and activated the app’s redesign. The visual adjustments apply to the incoming conversation and menus in the conversation. Check out the gallery below for a comparison.
The redesigned screens reflect the material 3 -Expressive style, with much larger contact names and ring images. The redesigned app mostly eliminates simple circular buttons for the benefit of larger, oval shaped buttons that change shape when pressing. The response call button still has the same circular icon, but the end button is much larger and pill shaped.
There are several other minor adjustments as well. These include the omitted “call from” text on the incoming call screen, the phone number that appears after answering the call, and the redesigned “more” menu in line with Material 3 Expressive.
The Google Phone app also offers a small animation for the Incoming Caller’s profile picture before responding to the call. Check out a reduced version of this and other app animations below.
These Google phone adjustments also come after we discovered material 3 expressive changes coming to Google,, Google meetsand Google Apps. We expect many more Google apps to have visual changes in the coming months.
In any case, we are happy to see Google make progress in redesigning their apps. But you will not necessarily need Android 16 to see these overhauled the apps, as we expect these apps to be available on previous Android versions as well.
