Google has confirmed that the Instagram app has tapped the battery on Android phones, something many users, including several on RedditHave noticed lately.
According to several Android users, Instagram has consumed significantly more battery on their devices compared to other apps with similar uses. For example, a Redditor with a Samsung Galaxy A53 reported that Instagram used 12.4% of the battery over a 54-minute screen on time, while WhatsApp, with a comparable 49-minute screen on time, only used 2.4%.
Some users who tried to install older versions of Instagram in the hope of avoiding the battery drain, noticed that their phones were warming up instead. Others switched to Instagram little and saw a noticeable improvement in battery life, and further suggested that the problem lies with the main app.
In response, Google has released an advisory title “Battery drains on Android devices,” encourages users to update Instagram.
“As of today, Instagram rolls out an updated app to fix a battery drainage problem on Android devices. Make sure you have the latest version of the Instagram app (the Build 382.0.0.0.49.84) to solve this problem,” said the company.
After the update is the users now reporting That the battery drainage problem seems to be resolved.
