WhatsApp allegedly developing the unified chat media hub feature for the web client

WhatsApp is working on a feature that will make it easier to view and manage all the media they received or sent when using WhatsApp. A new unified media browser, which is currently under development, should be released to WhatsApp web users in the future. WhatsApp already offers a similar unified media section on whatsapp for Android and iOS, which allows users to view all media in chats and groups on their smartphone.

Hub Update of WhatsApp Web Chat Media

WABETAINFO RESOURCE TRACKER saw a new “chat media hub” in a recent and unspecified version of WhatsApp Web. This is said to be a centralized hub that allows users to see a consolidated view of the media they have sent or received from users on the Meta Property Message platform. It is still under development, and even the testers do not have access to the appeal.

Wabetainfo has managed to allow user interface for the feature and shared a screen capture that gives us an idea of what to expect from the next chat media hub. When the app is released, users will see images, videos and gifs of all chats in your account.

The next hub will also display two additional guides that show all links and documents in all its WhatsApp chat. Unlike the media viewer, which shows the content in a grid layout, documents and link viewing will provide additional context, including the sender’s name and when the file or link was sent.

The resource tracker also states that the media hub will support batch operations, allowing users to select multiple files and download, forward or delete. It is also shown to present a search bar and a classification button that is said to allow content classification by date or size.

One of the biggest advantages of the new unified chat media hub is the ability to quickly identify large media files for deletion, which can release space on a user’s computer. It can also help users find media, links or documents, especially when they cannot remember when or where they were sent or received.

Currently, it is unclear whether the media hub will delete media, documents and chat links blocked or whether WhatsApp will allow users to display them by entering their secret code. We can expect to learn more about the feature when it starts to be released for beta testers in the future.
