- Google develops a Pinterest clone in the Google app, which will soon contain a new “Images” tab.
- Users will be able to choose their topics of interest, and Google will then populate the new tab with relevant, inspiring images curated from search.
- Users will be able to share the images, save them in a collection, search them with Google Lens or hide them for feeds.
In front of Google I/O, Information reported That Google planned to announce a Pinterest-like feature to show people pictures and help them cure ideas for topics such as fashion or interior design. When you first launch the new “Images” tab in the Google app, you are asked to select at least three topics, such as “Women’s Fashion”, “Food & Drink” and “Home Decor”, to create your personal image feed. Google will then use publicly available images from Search to fill this tab.
You can squeeze an image to share it, save it in your collection, search it with your Google lens or hide it for your feed if you don’t think it belongs there.
As we said before, this feature is very much a work going on right now. In our testing, instead of viewing images from the selected topics, they currently show random images from different topics. We assume that Google will iron out these cracks before the feature is ready for Prime time.
