The Toulouse company, which specializes in space data, will use a large maritime surveillance system in Indonesia.
The Toulousain CLS, which are famous for monitoring Argos Days on the planet, has just signed a record contract with Indonesia. In fact, this is the second phase of a large contract of 93 million euros, which was concluded with the Indonesian agency for meteorology, climateology and geophysics (BMKG). After a first contract in 2020, CLS will conclude the use of the Maritime Meteorology Systems (MMS) of the new generation in an Indonesian area, which has more than 17,000 islands and territorial waters, which cover almost 70 % of its national surface.
Sea monitoring in real time
CLS has committed a consortium of partner companies (including Toulousain Sterela) to provide Indonesia more than 200 measuring instruments, an advanced observation meteorology center, high -performance calculation capacity and modeling based on artificial intelligence (IA). The aim is to provide precise weather and oceanic forecasts as well as the real time monitoring of the sea.
The project enables Indonesia to anticipate dangerous weather and oceanic conditions and to plan maritime operations. Early warnings against coastal floods have to make the sea “safer and optimized for all actors: Fischer, maritime companies, port authorities and coastal populations”, explains CLS.
The system is based on an in -situ observation network with derivative boys, profilers, weather stations and coastal radars. This contract supported by the French government will be concluded in 2028.
