  • Currently, Gemini spends on tablets and folding the same interface as phones.
  • Google seems to work on a new user interface that benefits better advantage of larger screens.
  • It involves adding a side menu, which can always be collapsed for more space.

It has been about a week since Google started sharing all the I/O 2025 news, and this year it was certainly dominated by all things AI. We see the company’s ai-insert front-and-center in everything from the new Flow MoviMaking App to apply for new Try it on the tool For the preview of fit. But for all the hot new launches, Gemini is still the Nexus of the Google AI world, and right now we are looking at how using it can soon be much nicer on Android’s biggest screens.

Beyond just tablets, folding Android phones with large inner screens are becoming increasingly popular, and we love it when apps are optimized to get the most out of screen property. Right now, to use Gemini on a device as one of these results in an experience that is initially the same as we see on a phone:

Although it is perfectly usable, it is also far from optimized, and it does not require much of a design instinct to feel that we are missing out on something as a result of all the white space we get with this type of landscape layout.

Fortunately, Google seems interested in doing something about just that. Excavation through version 16.20.48.sa.arm64 Beta of the Google app, we have been able to activate a continued-not-but-but turned over revision to Gemini’s interface that now feels much more at home on larger screens:

The ability to access the side menu through the hamburger button feels just like Gemini online, and it turns out that it can be all we need for AI-Bot to fit in on a screen with tablet.

If you ever want the Gemini text to use as much of the screen as possible, you can always just press the button to collapse the side menu and return to just as we have with the existing interface. But considering how practical side rod gets things to access your time Gemini questions, we might just end up leaving it.

There is no story when Google can feel like introducing this change publicly, or whether the company can further revise the approach before this tablet view is ready. We keep you up to date with everything new we can reveal.
