Garmin SmartWatches gets more new features but not everyone is free

The new features that will be available for all include the following:

  • Breathing variations: This feature uses PULSE OX2 to help users understand shifts in their breathing patterns when they sleep.
  • Rucking activity: Allows you to manually add the packing weight for loading exercises. This enables more accurate tracking and analysis of calculations such as pace, distance, heart rate, VO2 MAX, calorie burning, height and so on.
  • Pack weight: This option allows you to enter the package load for activities such as running and hiking, where extra weight may be involved. This can help ensure that VO2 Max estimates are accurate.
  • Passcode: Users can set passport codes to access SmartWatch data. There is also an automatic detection of the wrist that allows users to set up a pin to regain access if the clock is no longer on the wrist.
  • Stage Timer: A new tool for competing markers that give you notifications via paired hearing protection or from the speaker, so you know the remaining time in your current stage.

In the meantime, there are two new features that will be part of a paid experience. These two features are aimed at hikers and golfers.

  • Garmin Trails: This feature is designed to make it easier to explore outdoor life. With Garmin Trails, users will be able to filter and find what type of trails they are looking for in selected regions. For example, you can use this tool to find a path that is friendly for dogs or filters based on trail functions such as waterfalls, rivers or forests. You can also get trail details – such as difficulties, distance, total ascent/descent and estimated time to complete – and access to social reviews with pictures and descriptions. In addition, a Garmin Connect Plus or Outdoor Maps Plus plan will allow users to “send trails directly to their compatible offline access and save a copy to their courses to add your interest points or edit the path.”
  • Garmin Golf membership: If you have a Venu 3, you can now access the premium golf features found at Approach Golf Watches. This provides advanced courses, combined with full color courseView maps, touch targeting, play-like distance and green contours. You must pay $ 9.99 per month or $ 99.99 per year for this membership.
