TDK is preparing a new generation of batteries to feed smartphones through AI tasks at a time when the main Apple Inc client is also preparing to launch a thinner.

Tokyo component manufacturer will begin sending its third Silicon -mood iteration iteration by the end of June, said executive director Noboru Saito. This is ahead Tdk’s Original Schedule Schedule in September quarter and can give manufacturers of enough time to use these cells on thinner models released this year, he said.

“We did a good progress and sent them very soon,” he said in an interview. “Some device manufacturers can use the new battery on their product a generation earlier.”

TDK’s battery technology is helping the world’s largest smartphone manufacturers to decrease their gadgets without reducing battery running times. Its latest lithium -ion batteries use silicon for anodes instead of commonly used graphite, and can pack 15 % more energy in the same space compared to conventional rechargeable batteries.

Samsung Electronics Co. This week launched The 5.9mm Galaxy S25 edge, which is 30 % thinner than the company’s S25 Ultra, as well as promising a camera with new editing features and other AI features.

Apple is also set to debut a thinner -The iPhone 17 Air-Inugoring a new industrial design that can lead to the finer models of the company based in Cupertino in the future.

Apple and Samsung are TDK’s largest customers, each contributing about 10 % of the Japanese company’s general revenue, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Saito refused to promote the prices of the new battery or its customers, but said TDK offers the component to all customers who recognize the value of technology.

Silicon anode battery technology can be applied to a variety of cell sizes for use in a variety of products, from devices to electric vehicles. TDK Battery Subsidiary, AMPEREX TECHNOLOGY LTD., is the main smaller silicon battery manufacturer used in smartphones and maintains a “very large participation”, according to Saito.

“We plan to introduce fourth -generation silicon batteries at some point in the next fiscal year to further expand our leadership,” he said. “Mass -producing silicon batteries require special knowledge. It’s not like you could do it just by gathering the materials.”

Tdk waiting Global smartphone production to grow a percent to 12 billion units this year, although it is warned that US commercial policies can erase this growth. Last month, the company presented its annual perspectives as a range and not a single number for the first time, citing Uncertainty around us.

Companies need to be ready to respond to developments outside their control and be dynamic and flexible in response to customer requests, said Saito.

For TDK, this means diversifying production places. AMPEREX has mainly set up batteries in China, but is setting up a new factory in India that will be on -line until September. The initial production capacity in Indian facilities is not large, but it is not difficult to produce silicon batteries in graffiti battery production lines, Saito said as he refused to publicize which batteries TDK plans to do there.

More manufacturers are building manufacturing capabilities outside China, with Apple’s expansion ability in India and Nintendo Co. doing so in Vietnam and Cambodia. Saito said that as TDK allocates production between China and India will depend on customer requests.
