YouTube Available on many devices, but the site and smartphone app usually get the lion’s share of changes. The company has now announced a number of features and improvements for the TV and console app.
Google announced a number of improvements to the YouTube app on consoles and TVs in a post on its Support forum. These improvements have either landed or are still planned to arrive at Q2 2025. First, your website will now show five new shelves or category types.
These new shelves are “Continue the search” (showing your three best searches), “Listen again” (showing top songs you previously searched for or listened to), “Live performances, remixes and cover”, a “primetime channels” shelf (shows content from recently searched/canals), and “from your top channels.” You can check out the latter shelf type below.

Google also adds a YouTube podcast tab on consoles and TVs. Enjoy watching shorts? No? Well, you now have a shorts row in the next feed and a shorts shelf in the tab. The company has also added the ability to loop all content, and previously limited this option to playlists (available via playlist settings). Finally, YouTube supports consoles and TVs now previews of the Inline for Channel/Subscription/Subject Pages as well as immersive channel advice.
In any case, we are pleased to watch Google pay attention to the console and TV app. However, I will definitely have the opportunity to hide short content on this app. This request comes shortly after we discovered proof that Google is working on a feature to Cloth in the short addiction On the smartphone app.
