We did not like the lack of expandable storage, the fact that an HDMI cable is not included and it is only available in two colors. Again, all trivial complaints.
All in mind, Google TV-Stream is a real winner, and although we think the killing Chromecast series was not the best decision, this is a very nice upgrade.
First, performance gets a nice shock. It has a MediaTEK MT8696 processor, which is 22% faster than the Amlogic S905X3 SOC in Chromecast with Google TV. The stream also gets 4 GB of RAM, instead of two. The difference is that the performance is clearly noticeable, even under general navigation. Even storage is upgraded from 8 GB to 32 GB.

In fact, the general appearance and design follows a similar style compared to the latest Chromecast. It is a light colored, minimalist oval. The main difference is that this is a smart TV box, instead of a dongle. It is meant to live in a flat surface, unlike hidden behind the TV.
Apart from that, the experience is very similar. You get the Google TV user interface and access to the Google Play Store so you can access all the apps you know and love. This, of course, includes all the most important streaming services. Not to mention it has Google Cast support. A great extra feature is the implementation of Google Home Support, which can help you control smart home units and automation right from the TV. And it even has thread and matter support, so it can act as a hub for smart devices.

The remote control is very similar, but it is bigger and things have been moved around a bit. Overall, we like it better, as the previous one was a little too small. This one fits better in hand, and we enjoyed finding my external feature, which makes it chirp to help you find it between the pillows.
Everything into consideration we say it’s the best time to get a Google TV streamer. This is the first time we have seen it on sale, and it was launched all the way back in September 2024! These discounts are rare, so jump on it while you can. There are not many good optionsEither, so it’s a kind of no-Brainer.
