The project is still early, but the report quotes insiders confirming that there is already a prototype in the testing that is about chatgpts Photo -generating tools.
It is unclear whether this will be a brand new app or just a feature in the Chatgpt app. Regardless, it seems that the idea gives users a room to generate and share content, possibly with a lot of help from AI, instead of just consuming it.
In the core is a social feed – which sounds a lot like what you want to see on X or Instagram, but with AI baked right into the experience. CEO Sam Altman has reportedly shown the idea of people outside the company and look for feedback when Openai finds out what to do next.
If this is launched, it can bring Openai into direct competition with not only X, but also meta. The report points out that when Meta’s plans to build a new standalone AI -Assistant -app made the news, Altman Written on x: “Okay okay we do a social app.”
But drama aside, a social feed makes a lot of sense to Openai’s long -term plans. Real -time user content is one of the most valuable things technology companies use to train AI. Musk’s chatbot, Grok, already pulls from X to generate the answers. Meta trains its AI on data from Facebook and Instagram. For Openai, it can be a way to stop relying on others and start owning that type of data directly.
Beyond the computer game, the platform can give people new ways to create and become viral. Sources told Guardian That part of the goal is to help users share “better content” using AI. A researcher from a competing laboratory admitted that the way people use grokes to create awareness stays have made others in the AI room “jealous.”
That being said, it is still very possible that none of this sees the light of day. Openai has his hands full of expanding chatgpt, building new tools and managing increasing public investigation. It must also convince users that another social feed is worth their time, especially in a market already saturated with alternatives.
