  • OnePlus 13 recently received the Android 16 Beta 2 update, intended for developers and advanced users.
  • This update improves the battery charge limit by removing the fixed 80% limit. Instead, users can adapt the limit and go from 80% to 95% in stage of 5%.
  • This change provides better flexibility to balance daily battery requirements for long -term battery life.

OnePlus rolled out recently Android 16 beta 2 for OnePlus 13Make it the first device outside Google Pixels to get the platform update so early. This update is intended for developers to test their apps on, but it also helps find some of the new features coming to OnePlus smartphones in the near future. As it turns out, OnePlus has improved its 80% battery charging limit Function to give power back to users, figuratively.

As discovered by an unofficial OnePlus System Apps Channel On Telegram, the latest Android 16 Beta 2 improves for OnePlus 13 battery charge limit feature. On Oxygen OS 15, which is based on Android 15, users can only switch 80% charging limit setting that is present at Settings> Battery> Battery Health. On this new Android 16 Beta 2 building (like OnePlus still marks such as Oxygen OS 15 in the setting app), users can switch the battery charging limit and then choose the limit they want to limit and go from 80% to 100% in 5% step.

Setting the charging limit to 100% does not make much sense since the phone should be uncovered anyway with that percentage. Still, I am glad that users have four levels that they can stop to get the right balance between battery life and the lifetime of the battery.

For some users, a 80% charging limit will feel too restrictive in the contemporary if they do not plan to use their phone for many years, or they have already budgeted with a battery change. I have chosen 95% as the roof of OnePlus 13, and give me the balance I need for my use and my current and future needs.

Do you follow the 80% battery charge rule?
