Do you just zoom to the camera’s preset levels, or do you zoom freely?

Many Android phones Today, a few preset zoom levels offer in the camera app, and you often find 0.6x (or 0.5x), 1x and 2x options at least. Some phones also offer Tele cameras for even more robust zoom options in the viewfinder.

It made us wonder if you adhere to these preset options, or if you freely zoom and stop at what zoom level you want. Let us know via the poll below and leave a comment if you want to elaborate.

The preset options usually offer the best image quality when it comes to the zoom level of the available cameras and the highest quality zoom. In the latter case, many phones with a high-resolution 1x camera can shoot 2x pruned shots with a loss-free resolution. Meanwhile as phones that OnePlus 13 Have a 3x 50MP camera, but can also shoot 6x pruned shots of good quality, so OnePlus contains a 6X preset option in the camera app as well.

We can definitely understand if you freely zoom using the camera app’s zoom slider or by pinching. This gives you maximum flexibility, so you can frame an image exactly as you think fits. Maybe your telephone camera offers 2x and 5x options, but nothing in between, so you have to zoom manually to 3x or 4x. Maybe you simply need more digital zoom, and the maximum preset option (eg 2x or 5x) is not enough. These intermediate zoom levels usually offer poorer image quality than the preset zoom options in your camera app, but that weighing may be worth it to some people.
