- Oppo just announced its new AI search function, which rolls out to Find N5 globally from today.
- Google Cloud runs the global version under the hood.
- Unlike the Galaxy AI search functions in one UI 7, Oppos works in one place and covers everything.
When Samsung launched A Ui 7 Next to the Galaxy S25 series, it focused heavily on its new AI-driven search features. User Galaxy AiCan you find specific settings, images and more just by using natural language. However, the problem is that you need to use specific search fields for these features, ie the search box in the setting app to find settings and the search box in the Gallery app to find pictures.
Today, Oppo has announced the rollout of his own AI search function, which basically does the same as Samsungs. However, crucial is Oppos works in one place and covers everything you need, which makes it much more intuitive and practical.
Oppo announced this rollout on Google Cloud next 2025. It chose this event for the formal announcement because Oppo Phones outside China with this AI search will use the Google Cloud to perform these features.
At Sky next time I sat down with Jason Liao, President of the Oppo Research Institute. Jason showed me how AI -search works on his own Oppo Finn N5 (His phone was the Chinese model, which obviously has Chinese text and is not based on Google Cloud, but the features are the same). He simply pulled down the warning shadow, began to write things into the universal search box at the top, and AI did the rest.

For example, Jason wrote: “What is the flight time of San Francisco?” By using documents, e -mail messages, photos and other data on his phone, AI joined forces for him in a few seconds.
In another example, he asked to find a picture of his passport. Once again, in seconds, the search feature found a picture of his passport in the photo library.
That passport question was exciting for me because the image was not marked “Pass” in any way. AI scanned her pictures and looked for what it understood to be a passport and returned that image.
“On the technology front,” Jason explained, “A model running on devices will be able to categorize the photo album. But the understanding of the query is through Google Cloud. We secure users’ privacy using this private data processing cloud so that everything is encrypted. “
For me, this represents the best AI-driven search feature I’ve seen in Android yet. It does not require me to jump to another place in Android to find what I want, and it does not force me to use my own AI tool. I just pull down the warning shadow, say what I’m looking for, and the software is doing the rest. It is AI that it should be: in the background.
Oppo Finn N5 users all over the world can expect an OTA update to come soon to enable this functionality. Oppo did not tell us what other phones would get the feature, and when, but since it is run by Google Cloud and not the device, it could possibly come to a wide selection of Oppo phones. It is also possible this can come to OnePlus phones in the future, considering that the two brands are paired. We keep you up to date when we learn more.
