Google starts rolling out a more engrossing look for Chrome on Android, bringing an edge-to-edge setup that uses more of the phone’s screen. The change was first debuted in testing Last month, and it is now starting to reach more users as part of the Chrome 135 update.
Seam 9to5google Demonstrated, the update lets Chrome draw content right down to the bottom of the screen, behind Android’s gesture navigation line. That bar is no longer appearing on top of a solid background when rolling. Instead, it flows transparent over web pages for a cleaner feeling of full screen.
Google implements this through a so -called “dynamic bottom line”, which is internally referred to as “The Chin.” This component pulls dynamically when users scroll down and give the appearance of the web content filling the entire screen. The background still appears when the page is at the top or when you flip up again, and the update does not change how websites are built or displayed. Google gave the somewhat obvious warning that in some cases the gesture bar can still hide parts of the page.
While Chrome 135 is now widely available via the Play Store, the very edge itself rolls through a separate update of the server side. This means that not everyone wants to see it immediately, even if they are on the right chrome version.
The change is currently limited to Android phones Use gesture navigation, with users on three-button NAV who see no difference. Tablet support is also still in place for a future release.
