Google has introduced many new AI-driven tools over the past year or so, but Notebooklm Have easy to be one of our favorites. The podcast -like sound overview quickly appeared as the prominent feature and while we now have Audio overviews baked in Gemini himselfThere are still many good reasons for checking out Notebooklm. We already loved the way it has been capable of chew through and condense complicated source materialAnd now the tool becomes even more flexible when it comes to access to sources, thanks to the new Discover button.

So far you must be very intentionally about the sources you live to Notebooklm. It’s like you start with an empty slate, which you start filling in with documents you upload and share to the service. The type of laser focus that helps you secure has been one of Notebooklm’s great benefits, but it is also something that can be a bit limiting if you do not have a suitable corpus to begin with.

Of interest in lowering that line adds Google to a Discover Sources option to Notebooklm. Right next to the “Add Source” button in the left panel, you will now find a new “Discover Sources” button. Click on it and Notebooklm asks you to describe the type of source material you are looking for. It then sheds the web and gives you a list of up to 10 candidates, including website and PDF documents.

You can then click through to examine each of them, and if they look like the type of document you want the Notebooklm reference, you can choose to import them for your project – select as many or as you want.

In our short test, Notebooklm managed to find a nice collection of appropriate relevant source material, and could immediately begin to answer questions that draw from the documents. Footnotes allow you to see where in these sources this information comes from, giving you the opportunity to both double -check Google’s interpretation and enrich yourself with further details.

Aren’t you sure what you want to learn about? Not a problem. Discover sources also include a “I feel curious” who asks notebook to take the steering wheel and come up with a random subject and then track source material on it. We only gave it a few attempts, with Notebooklm suggesting topics such as treating youth sports injuries, Chinese wedding jewelry and cable stays-not a bad selection.

The access rolls out now and can take up to a week to hit everyone. When this comes to your account, you have to give it a shot and see what Notebooklm can do.
