Google’s return to smart glasses seems increasingly likely

Thanks to the Apple Vision Pro and Ray-Ban Meta sunglasses, there is renewed interest in AR-XR-MR units. Google comes into the field again with Android xrand it cooperates with Samsung for Project Moohan Headset. However, it seems that Google has greater ambitions that could possibly culminate in the company that publishes its own headset and smart glasses.

Bloom Reports that Google is in final conversations to obtain Adhawk Microsystems, a company that creates eye-tracking technology. The report suggests that Google can buy the Canadian start -up for $ 115 million. The Adhawk staff could join Google’s Android XR team if and when the deal closes. Google also recently bought the HTC’s XR division for $ 250 million.

Adhawk has made pieces, hardware and software to enable advanced eye tracking. It offers this technology to other manufacturers to let them create devices that can determine where a user is looking. Adhawk’s USP is the low power-eye tracking component, which can analyze a user’s corneas and students faster than rival sensors. The start -up has also developed glasses called Mindlink.

Eye tracking is a function that is important for all reinforced reality and virtual reality heads. Google’s attempt at the AR-SVR segment started with Google Glass, but the product was eventually wound up. Google has allegedly spent years testing new glasses prototypes, and low-power eye tracking can help bring these designs to the market. Combined with Android XR and AI help, the next product from Google is in a better place to get consumers and business traction than Google Glass could ever.
