  • Elon Musk has blamed a “massive cyberattack” for Monday’s multiple x-power fracture, suggesting possible nation-state engagement.
  • Cybersecurity experts have challenged Musk’s claims, suggesting that the attack used a botnet with worldwide IP -er, not just from Ukraine.

Elon Musk has claimed that a “massive cyberattack” was behind Monday’s widespread power outage of X (formerly Twitter). The disorder that lasted for hours affected thousands of users in different countries.

A coordinated attack or what?

After the power outages, musk took to x To solve the problem, which says, “It was (still is) a massive network attack against X. We are attacked every day, but this was done with many resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved. Tracking … ”

Later in the day, during an interview on Fox Business Network, Musk claimed that the IP address of the attack had been tracked to the “Ukraine area.” However, he did not provide any further details or evidence to support this claim.

Meanwhile, cybersecurity experts have disputed Musk’s claim, and warned that IP addresses alone do not confirm the origin of an attack.

Security researcher Kevin Beaumont noted Blues That the attack was performed using a variant of Mirai Botnet, which consists of compromised cameras and other connected devices.

According to Beaumont, the attack involved IPS from around the world, not just Ukraine. He also said that the perpetrators can be “advanced persistent teens”, and bags that the attack could have been performed by talented but rampant hackers instead of a nation -state.

The x -break -ups affected users in several countries, including the United States, India, the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada. Reports from Downetector showed three waves of disturbances throughout the day, with significant spikes happening in the afternoon and evening.

When X continues to investigate, there are questions about who was responsible for the attack and whether the attack was political or financially motivated.
