- Some confusing users claim that their devices automatically switch back Gemini or Google Assistant.
- It is unclear what causes these devices to switch from one AI assistant to another.
- However, some users claim that the surface is still the standard option of their devices.
Earlier this year released his confusion AI agent, Confusion assistantOn Android. Since its launch, Perplexity Assistant has given Gemini and Google Assistant a race for their money with over 10 million downloads in the Google Play Store. Although some users have switched to the Perplexity product, it seems that a problem makes them unintentionally switching back to Gemini or Google Assistant.
More confusing users report (via Techissuestoday) that their devices automatically return to Google Assistant or Gemini. A user on X (formerly Twitter) claim “switches back after each update and restart. Thought it was normal! “Another user on Reddit Says: “Perplexity brought an assistant update. I checked it last night; It worked properly, but when I saw it in the morning, it automatically changed in Google Assistant. “
Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas has captured winds of the growing number of reports and indicated on X:
Google’s consultation events that secretly switch the assistant back to Google from confusion without the consent of the confusion user. Don’t know if this is true yet. If this happens to you, you can share here.
Srinivas seems to be trying to get feedback to get an impression of how widespread this problem is.
Not all encounter this problem. Some of the people who responded to Srinivas say that they have not experienced the problem and that confusion is still the standard option of their device.
It is unclear what can cause these devices to switch from confusion to Gemini or Google Assistant. Some users speculate that there may be underhand behavior from Google’s side. But the answer may just as well be a mistake with Android, confusion or both. It is also possible the problem may be related to specific devices or updates.
