- Spotify Premium users pay for an ad-free listening experience, but last month ads began to emerge.
- The company announced a solution within a few days.
- This week, reports of incorrect ads in Spotify Premium are back, but a new solution is meant to already be out.
If you are looking for a Great music streaming serviceThere is a lot to like with Spotify. In fact, Spotify Premium is so popular that we are a little shocked that it took Google as long as it did to split youtube Premium and YouTube music by offering a cheaper Premium little Level in the United States for exactly the type of people who already pay for Spotify. Considering that half the point of Spotify Premium is able to listen to your favorite music without ads, we were confused to hear last month that Paid Spotify users suddenly heard ads. Although we thought that Spotify had quickly tracked down that mistake and corrected it, it sounds like this turns out to be a more difficult mistake that most to get to the bottom.
When we first learned about this problem, it seemed reasonably widespread, and in a poll, our readers participated in, a good third of all Spotify premium subscribers who replied, indicated that they had experienced ads on the platform.
Just a few days later, Spotify already communicated that it had a solution, sharing:
We have good news from our teams – a solution for the cases where premium users noticed ads when listening to music has been distributed, and you should notice a difference right away.
The company reminded the listeners that certain content could still include promotional messages – podcasts, especially – but it certainly sounded from what the underlying problem has been addressed.
Except this week, Spotify Posted to X a support link that indicated that the ads were still persisted where they should not be. And the users were actually quick to answer that they still have provided them.
Well, hours later, one Spotify Representative finally posted again in that support thread that the problem has been labeled as “fixed.” Whether it’s going to stick or not this time, it may be too early to know. If you still hear ads, the company suggests it somewhat annoyingly sounding the remediation step of logging into the app, then out again and repeating 2 or 3 times until a server sync is triggered. We hope your password is not so complicated to write.
