Android 16s last beta forces some users to charge their phones twice a day

Google released Android 16 Beta 2.1 Back February 27. Since it is not a large Beta building, this update offers mostly bare fixes. However, it seems that the release also introduced a new error that causes batteries to empty faster.

More Android 16 Betaesters have recently flowed to Reddit to report That they have experienced serious problems with battery drains ever since they installed Beta 2.1. It looks like the problem is widespread across all qualified pixel units.

Some users claim that the problem is so bad that they have to charge their phones twice on a single day. Puts some perspective on how bad the error really is, says a user:

To really drive this home. I have had about 1 hour and 32 minutes with total screen on time spent today. Not plugged around 9am, and my current battery life is 63 percent. I hope they fix this soon. That’s to the point where I don’t even want to use my phone for a long time.

As with all beta, faults come with the territory. The irony here is that accelerated power reinforce is a problem that started with Beta 2.0 and Beta 2.1 was probably released to fix it. But in this case, it seems that the solution somehow made the mistake worse for some.
