Switch emulation in 2025 barely limped, but the latest Bastion of Hope just got a significant upgrade. Citron V0.5 is a new, experimental building with many improvements in stability and compatibility.
The update includes several corrections for volcano reproduction, as well as some specific solutions for Samsung drivers. UI is also updated, with improved performance monitoring. It is still very clear a yuzu fork, but it is the most advanced fork it is.
Android Authority Tested briefly the app, and early results indicate improved performance across the line. Several games that experienced graphic flaws and crashed in other Yuzu Fork’s race without adjusting settings. Your mileage may vary, and performance may be even better with the latest cabbage rivers.
Citron has regularly made progress, and built on what Yuzu started.
Version 0.5 comes less than a month after the previous updateWhich also brought significant compatibility upgrades for popular games. At that time, the site stopped referring to it as a “Nintendo Homebrew Emulator”, with the website reading “Experience Nintendo Switch games on your PC with outstanding performance and compatibility.” It has now been restored, with the app once again nominally a “Nintendo HomeBrew” project.
It is unclear whether this will keep the emulator safe against Nintendo’s legal IR, even though any discussion about piracy is strictly prohibited. Nintendo has previously laid down popular emulators that Yuzu and RyujinxWhile you still admit that Emulation itself is technically legal.
