- The Google Wallet now reminds users to upgrade their passports to stay relevant and unlock new benefits.
- Users can press “Passport Upgrade” to see new offers and be redirected to the sellers’ websites for updates.
- If the upgrade plum is dismissed, users can find it again through the three-point menu.
Google Wallet rolls out a new feature designed to remind users to upgrade their loyalty cards to keep them updated. In addition, Wallet will also help users detect and access more benefits for their loyalty cards.
This change was first discovered by people on 9to5googlewho received a command prompt to update an old CVS pharmacy card card. The membership card was moved to a prominent place in the Google Wallet, just below the top carousel, with an “upgrade available” label below. Another card that was shown under the membership card explained how the user could “get passport updates, related passports and messages.”
By pressing the “Upgrade Passport” option, Wallet shows a list of new benefits available and redirect users to the seller’s website to complete the PASS upgrade.
Essentially, this new feature scans your existing passports to identify which ones may need an update, and whether upgrading will unlock better benefits, such as new coupons or special offers.
If you accidentally reject the “upgrade” prompt, you can easily find it again by pressing the three-point menu.
