Believe it or not! Some just gave out a PS3 emulator for Android

  • A native PS3 emulator called Aps3e is now available on Android.
  • It is still early in development, and it is not immediately clear where it comes from or how safe it is.
  • This eliminates the need for solutions such as Winlator for PS3 emulation, potentially increasing performance and compatibility.

Although there have been a lot of improvements for PS3 emulation via RPCS3, Android users have largely remained in the dust. The developer has explicitly said that won’t make an android versionsaw the only way to imitate PS3 on Android was via a solution like the Winlator tool. But now there is a new, native PS3 emulator on the block called Aps3e.

But first a disclaimer: It is not immediately clear who developed it or where it comes from, who will raise some red flags. If you plan to download and test this, do it at your own risk. We just know that it is from a Chinese developer who goes by Aenu, who “missed the nine -year -long compulsory education, is unemployed and now lives a life with unemployment in the countryside” (via Google Translate).

The app comes from a Chinese developer, but we don’t know much else.

Currently, the app is very barbons, with a simple menu showing your library with games. Compatibility is also very limited, with none of the games Android Authority Tested on newer flagship phones that manage to start up. When it is said, Other users at Reddit Have managed to launch light games like Terraria and Limbo, although performance hangs after RPCS3 on Winlator. The L3 and R3 buttons are also handwritten, for some reason. Unfortunately, it does not support control yet.

The app requires Android 7 or higher and volcanic support, and you need to deliver your own rooms -and firmware. The emulator was briefly available on Github, but has since been removed. For now you can only Download it from a Chinese host.

No matter where this ends up, it is good to see PS3 emulation on Android after stuck for years. Most developers work with two-team e-layer solutions via Windows or Linux containers, which is far more demanding than a native app like APS3E. For now, however, it is best regarded as a work in progress.
