- Android 16 Beta 2 introduces a new “Double Press Power Button” menu.
- This menu allows you to choose between starting the camera app or the default wallet app when pressing the power button.
- Previously, you launched the standard camera app.
Android makes it easy to launch Google Wallet The app, which is useful in case you save many different credit cards, transit cards or other things you often need to pull up. You can either press the app’s icon on the home screen, press the wallet tile in quick settings, or press and hold the LOCK screen’s shortcut. On some Android phones, you can even press the power button to get the Google Wallet up. Double pressure on the power button on a pixel phone always brings up the camera app, but that’s something you can finally change the last Android 16 Beta.

Google rolls out Android 16 beta 2 today, and after installing it on one of my Pixel phonesI noticed that the “quickly open camera” side has been replaced with a new one “Double Cap button“Page. This screen is below Settings> System> GestAnd it allows you to set the power button’s double button to either start the Pixel Camera app (the default camera app on Pixel phones) or default the wallet app. I first discovered this page In the third beta for Android 15’s second quarterly release, but it is now live in Android 16 Beta 2.
When you change this setting to the “Wallet”, you can press the power button to open the default wallet app no matter which app you are in. However, if you double tap the power button while the phone is locked I need first to unlock the phone to see Your cards. This is probably done for safety reasons, so people can’t see the cards in the wallet while the phone is locked.
Here’s a short video of me demonstrating this feature of a Pixel 9 Pro that runs Android 16 Beta 2. As you can see, you can change the “Double Tap Power button” to the “Wallet” that can start the default wallet app ( As I “set to the Google Wallet) when I double tap the power button.
This is a practical feature for those who often need to quickly pull up the Google Wallet, but I wish it was more configurable. There is no reason, in my mind, that the gesture is limited to just the camera and wallet apps. Many OEMs offer far more adaptation in this department, but Google seems to keep things easy for now.
