In version 1.25.062.00.90 by the Google Docs Android app, we discovered a bookmark feature. While this feature has been available at Web and iOSIt has not yet been made available on Android. When enabled, you can access this feature by selecting text and then tapping the + icon in the top text. This will open the bottom sheet with an alternative to bookmark. A bookmark icon appears next to the text you chose.
During our survey we also met a document fan function (pictured above). Unlike bookmarks, the possibility of Create document tabs is currently exclusive to the online version of documents. The option to add new tabs appears when entering the edit mode.
Last but not least, we found that Google is working to give the Android app a little AI help. It looks like we could see someone soon Gemini Features come to the app.
The features we found are similar to Gmail. On the above screens you can see the Gemini icon in the top toolbar. To tap on that icon opens a bottom sheet with options to “summarize this document” and “outline the main points.” There is also a sticky summary this document button under the top toolbar. At the moment, these features do not work and only show the error “something went wrong”.
