A Ui 7 Is the latest update to Samsung’s UX skin, but the company has surprisingly been dull when it comes to rolling out the update to several phones. You can only use a Ui 7 on the new Galaxy S25 series and the one Ui 7 beta on Galaxy S24 series. Samsung has not even announced when other phones in the setting would receive the update. Some users are tired of the wait, and they have taken the matter into their own hands and installed a Ui 7 on the Galaxy S8 … Wait, what?
Redditor Saidbl1 Have shared a video of a Ui 7 running on a Galaxy S8, and it seems to run fine on a phone that was launched seven years ago!
The user shows about the phone section, repeating that the phone runs a Ui 7 based on Android 15. We are then shown the different features of the new update, such as Circle to search, the quick settings exchanges, the new Nowbar. To manifest itself as an active notice and on the lock screen, the new charger animation at Now Bar, and a few online Galaxy AI features. All of these are highlights of Samsung’s latest flagship, and it is really impressive to see them on the flagship from 2017.
So what’s the catch here, you ask? The catch is that the user runs a customized room.
Although Samsung offers some of the longest update promises in the industry, and goes as high as Seven big Android updates for the latest flagshipsIt cannot afford to continue to update all its phones forever. The cut-off to receive a UI 7 based on Android 15 is likely to be the Galaxy S21 series from 2021, which was launched with Android 11 and is promised at least four Android updates (ie up to Android 15). The Galaxy S8 is simply too old to receive an official UI 7 update.
For such older units, third -party hobby developers try to port the update from recent flagships. A developer did it for the Samsung Galaxy S8 too, but we couldn’t find their original posts. Other enthusiasts have apparently mirrored download files and Reposted the customized room. So if you consider yourself an Android expert, you can install it on the Galaxy S8 at your own risk.
We do not recommend installing the custom room -a Galaxy S8. Custom rooms -are inherently risky installing and they contain errors. The list of errors on this includes a broken camera, flashlight, face locking, smart viewing, dex, random restarts and wonky behavior for Wi-Fi, hotspots, biometrics and more. Obviously, it’s not meant to be installed on your daily driver, although we expect very few people to use the Galaxy S8 as their primary phone these days. Given the age of the phone, I am also not surprised at how quickly the telephone battery drains in the video.
Installing the custom room is also a pretty difficult matter. Again, if this is the first time you heard the words “custom room”, you should not install it, as you are likely to empty your phone because of the complicated installation process.
Still, I am very impressed that the hobby community is still holding phones like the legendary Galaxy S8 alive – large props to the original developer for their one UI 7 porting effort. I hope users across more Samsung phones will experience the new UI 7 update, officially or otherwise.
