Ford made a Nascar Mach-e, but it’s not still sure what to do with him

Ford is no stranger to Nascar’s life. Ford Joey Logano’s pilot was the 2024 Cup champion in one of the company’s Mustang body machines. He currently also leads the 2025 series. However, the Blue Oval and its Ford Performance division are entering an unknown territory with their new prototype, a fully electric Mach-e built on elements of the current Nascar Next Gen.

The machine uses three engines to make a total of 1,341 HP (1,000 kW). Yes, three engines, one for each rear wheel plus the strange in the front, giving traction in all wheels. That is an apparent necessity, since the car has twice the power that any Nascar corridor can be deployed in non -restricting plates races.

But that extra axis driven is not just for acceleration. “If you only have rear traction, you just have rear regeneration,” said Mark Rushbrook. He is the Global Ford Performance Director. Since the braking forces are higher on the front axle, an additional engine there means more regeneration to recharge the battery.

The engines and car development were made by Austrian Motorsport Development House Stard, which also provided engineering behind the previous electrical protesters of Ford, such as the Supervan and the superhruck.

However, the most interesting could be the form of the car. Nascar Mach-E has a cross profile decidedly, just like The Nascar and ABB EV prototypehelping to leave space for batteries: 78 kWh to be exact.

Is now the time to go to EV races?

Ford’s performance is still working where and when we will see this last demonstrator that is really demonstrating, but Rushbrook said that this concept was developed in concert with Nascar and other manufacturers, so this is not just only once. With the perception of changing EVs throughout the country and many saying that alternative fuels are the way to follow, part of the plan is to discover what fans want to see.
