THE Redmi K80 Pro was released in China with a price increase of CNY 400 (around Rs. 4,800) over the Redmi K70 Pro. According to tipster Digital Chat Station (translated from Chinese), the company may be planning an even more exorbitant price increase for its successor. In a publish on Chinese social media platform Weibo (through Gizmochina), the tipster claimed that the rumored Redmi K90 Pro could cross the CNY 5,000 mark (roughly Rs. 59,000) in China.
This translates to an increase of at least CNY 1,300 (roughly Rs. 15,000), which will reportedly further increase the phone’s positioning in Redmi’s smartphone portfolio.
Notably, at the launch of the Redmi K80 series in November, the company introduced a rebrand and highlighted that the K series smartphones are now “positioned as the champion flagship” to offer a flagship experience. This repositioning of the product line was a response to the Xiaomi 15 series moving to a higher price category to compete with other flagship phones on the market.

According to previous reportsthe rumored Redmi K90 Pro could run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset. It is expected to arrive as a successor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite in the second half of 2025.
